Questions

Questions parents ask

Who can come, and in which grades?

Children in kindergarten through grade 6, ages 5 to 12. Children are grouped by grade for homework hour and mix across grades for the activity hour.

How does my child get from school to Tote?

Children from the school that hosts us walk down with a staff member at dismissal. If your child attends another school, tell us which one when you register and we explain how arrival works for that school.

Who may pick up my child?

Only the adults on your list. We ask for ID from anyone we haven't met, and every child is signed out at the door before leaving.

How do I choose between two, three and five afternoons?

Choose the days you need covered. Two afternoons are Tuesday and Thursday, three are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and five are every school day. If your schedule changes, tell us and we move your days when there is room.

What happens on days the school is closed?

We are closed whenever the building is closed. The closed days for the year go out to families in writing, so you can plan other care ahead.

What if my child is sick?

A child with a fever or a contagious illness stays home. If a child becomes ill here, we call the first person on your list, and a staff member stays close until you arrive.

What do you do about allergies and medicine?

Tell us about allergies when you tour, and we ask for details privately once you enroll. Medicine is given only with your written permission, by a staff member trained to give it.

Can my child's friend join the same group?

Yes, when there is room on the days both families need. Each family registers separately, and we try to place friends together when both families ask.

Are phones allowed?

Phones stay in backpacks during the afternoon. If you need your child, call the front desk and a staff member brings your child to the phone.

Is there outdoor time?

On dry days part of the activity hour goes outside, on the school's yard. When it is wet, very cold or very hot, the activity moves into the gym.

Something we didn't answer?

Call or text, and a person answers.
